Your 5-day tour from Marrakech to Fes begins with an early morning pickup from your riad. We ascend the High Atlas Mountains via the breathtaking Tizi n’Tichka Pass, stopping for panoramic photos. We then venture off the main road to the historic Telouet Kasbah, once the powerful stronghold of the El Glaoui family. Next, explore the iconic, UNESCO-listed Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. After lunch, we continue to Ouarzazate, the “Gateway to the Sahara,” where you can visit Africa’s largest film studios or the Taourirt Kasbah before checking into your hotel.

Driving Distance: ~204 km | Driving Time: ~4 hours

Day 2: Ouarzazate ⇢ Skoura Oasis ⇢ Rose Valley ⇢ Dades Valley

After breakfast, we drive into the lush Skoura Oasis, visiting the beautifully preserved Amridil Kasbah to see how Moroccans lived over 300 years ago. We continue to Kelaat M’Gouna in the Rose Valley (stunning during the spring bloom). Taking an adventurous off-road route, we stop to meet a Berber family living in a mountain cave—a highlight for culturally curious travelers. We arrive in the Dades Valley by evening, where you can hike the dramatic, alien-like rock pinnacles of Monkey Fingers Canyon before dinner.

Driving Distance: ~144 km | Driving Time: ~3 hours

Day 3: Dades Valley ⇢ Todra Gorge ⇢ Merzouga Desert

Start the day with a scenic drive to the Todra Gorge, a spectacular, narrow canyon with sheer 300m rock walls and a winding river below—perfect for a short hike. In the afternoon, we arrive in Merzouga, where your camel awaits. Trek across the towering Erg Chebbi dunes to witness a magical desert sunset. Arrive at your luxury desert camp to enjoy a warm welcome with tea, a delicious Moroccan dinner, and traditional Berber drumming under a blanket of stars.

Day 4: Full Day Exploring the Merzouga Desert

Wake up early for an unforgettable Saharan sunrise. After breakfast at the camp, embark on a 4×4 SUV excursion to uncover the hidden side of the desert. Visit Berber nomads living beyond the dunes, explore the abandoned village of M’Fis, and stop at the seasonal Lake of Birds. In the afternoon, head to Khamlia village to experience the hypnotic, spiritual beats of Gnawa music, brought to Morocco by sub-Saharan ancestors. Return to your Merzouga riad or luxury camp for a second peaceful night.

Enjoy lunch in Midelt, known as the “Apple Capital,” before beginning our ascent into the Middle Atlas Mountains. We stop in Ifrane, affectionately called the “Switzerland of Morocco,” for a coffee break and a chance to spot playful Barbary macaques in the nearby cedar forests.
